The Caretakers / E Shalar

The Caretakers are specifically selected species where some of them have the ability to talk to other animals and different species, occasionally guiding people through the forest and look over the surrounding areas mainly around the Forest of Mystery.

These “caretaker” creatures are not exclusive to Nysh, they are always found on the planets where Noxxi temporarily settles down. On Nysh, they are called the “Shalar” and they consist of a handful of different beings where some of them are visually similar to other animals that exists on the planet.

The Shalar are very intelligent creatures, some of them were even specifically created to be part of the Shalar given the conditions of the current planet they are on. Take a note that the Shalar are fully aware of who they are and what they do, and they willingly do what they do.

An attribution between some of them is that they inherit green and teal shades and patterns to blend into the forest’s colors. The Shalar are also granted with an extremely long life span, it could be considered that they are near immortal, they possess high regeneration and partial invulnerability to defend themselves from fatal injuries or attacks. The further away they are from the forest the more vulnerable they become to actual physical damage.

The role of the Shalar is to guide selected people through the Forest of Mystery, help individuals in extreme cases, to look over cities and to have an eye on most part of the planet and help other beings if necessary. Otherwise they usually tend the forest and take care of the animals and its surrounding area.

While some of them blend easily into the environment, they can be seen around the world. They are rather rare to spot, but they indeed enjoy visiting certain people or groups of people or even some towns and cities. Some of them can be seen guiding and taking care of Uru’Mara as well on their way.

While some of them able to talk similarly to humans, it is however not understood by people and sounds more as gibberish to them. Some healers and druids tend to claim to understand them, but it has never been proven by anyone. In fact the main language they speak, called the Shalar’Oma by most of the locals, can only be really understood by lesser beings, like the common animals found in and around the forest. It is how they communicate with the animals.
