The Rose of End

// this is an older piece //

The two suns shone upon this elemental planet. Inhabited by its diverse creatures of elementals, more notably the ones made from its earth that were able to survive its high temperatures and unusual environment. The earth and minerals that built up most of their body were just mere vessels for their elements and essences to contain and protect, thus making them very resistant to any kind of forces, certain energies or even magic. This trait of theirs is what was way too attractive to something far, far out there.

The vast planet of many elements, it felt something for the first time that it has never felt. A light hint of stress and anxiousness fell upon all the elementals, distressing some of them that were small enough to feel it more intensively than others. As time passed slowly, some of them began to tremble and panic. Weak or fragile elementals sickened to the point they disgorged their own elements and essences from their insides as their earth-like vessels crumbled upon themselves, making them vulnerable to anything and ultimately leading to their own end. Elementals generally died when their vessels were destroyed, leaving their essences exposed to absorption by another elemental. However, essences left in peace for a some time just scattered, taking up their own elements by being absorbed by the environment, creating lesser, smaller elemental creatures. It was their cycle.

As more of them began to panic by seemingly nothing, soon they could observe a comet-like object up the sky, but it was heading right toward them. Closer and closer, it approached the planet swiftly and soon as it hit the atmosphere of the planet, covered with super-heated shroud of incandescent plasma as it fell. Within this shroud there was her, the Blackrose.

She was seemingly doing an easy free fall, head forward, aiming for the ground with her arms crossed, seemingly having no worries or any care for her landing. She crashed right into the ground beneath her, into a desert. One would say the sand softened her fall, but in truth it made her impact do less destruction to the land. Among all that dust and dirt, the Blackrose emerged.

With her inexpressive look, she gazed into the distance. “How lifeless… how dry and warm this place is.” She puffed. “Let’s see if I can find anything promising around here this time.”

She began walking the desert, and soon enough she noticed more color in the distance. She turned and headed that way, it was a sure sign of life in her eyes.

With some time, she reached the end of the desert and approached the gradually upcoming autumnal environment full of yellows, reds and browns.

The grassy land quickly began to lose its colors near her, which seemingly angered the Blackrose in the form of a clenched fist and uncomfortable cracking of her wrist. Her mere presence ended all kinds of life around her, the closer she got, the faster did they rot and decay away, turning into nothing but ashes.

She stopped and reached out with her right hand and looked curiously, “That tree there… that tree is still standing.” She said, with a mix of hope and sadness in her voice, slowly she stepped forward, one step after another. The tree she was approaching cracked loudly, No! she yelled and ran up to it almost desperately trying to save it, but the closer she got the faster the tree has rotten away, turning into dust that the wind blew away. Not even able to touch anything, unable to feel the touch of any beings.

The Blackrose stomped in anger and cried out in frustration. Her anger seemed to increase her affected area of decay, which caused to anger her even further, placing her into a devilish loop.

If you cannot withstand my presence, you deserve no life to live! She shouted loudly, echoing through the now empty land. She began punching the ground which somewhat calmed her down, leaving a wrecked place behind.

Marched through lands that died upon her presence, soon enough she encountered the first elementals in sight. “There. Finally. Something more promising than wretched plants…” She smirked as she approached with great confidence.

Every nearby elemental froze, unable to move in fear from her presence. Plants began to rot away under them, yet the elementals stayed, so far they shown no sign of decay.

“Do not fear me,” she took a step closer to them, reaching out with a hand once again, but upon seeing one of the elementals starting to crumble and slowly break apart, she did not stop approaching them. She looked at the crumbling elemental melancholically, “Please… don’t.” she begged, not because of empathy, but because of her own inability to physically contact with any living being.

From the pressure, the combination of her presence and her aura, the elemental broke and its essence didn’t simply leak back into the world as it naturally would do, but instead got completely destroyed, never to return.

She inhaled in a frustrated manner and anger quickly rushed through her, “You…” she looked at the next elemental near her, “You. Weak. Frail!” she muttered under her breath, then looking up and turning her gaze quickly to the other elementals. All of you! You are all nothing! Worthless! She shouted in anger, continued to curse every living being in a violent speech, her voice flooding the planet through its air, echoing through the lands.

Her aura swiftly ended the other elementals as it grew through her anger. Plants rotting away in mere seconds, all elementals nearby breaking apart, crumbling, with their essences being destroyed.

Driven by anger, frustration and sadness, the Blackrose began running blindly forward, not even trying to attack anything directly, knowing her sheer presence and aura simply ends all life. How could she not be angry, if all she ever craved for was life to touch, yet her entire existence is death and decay, and the inability to touch any living being before it would turn into ashes in her presence.

“You deserve nothing! None of you!” She cried out, cursing at them.

Her tears rolling down her cheeks, blown away by the headwind. For one last time she wailed, muttering under her breath, “You are all just… a waste of time and effort.”

With great force and speed combined, she launched herself off the planet to continue her way to the unknown.

Leaving nothing behind on the planet,
but a large scar of death,
and her tears.
